Nicely restored ancient city with its mud brick buildings. This was the first seat of an organized governmental structure in the modern-day Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You will need to tour it by car, for the sand dust prevails. More

Dirayah now is so part of Riyadh that even the taxis are ok to take you there, the old town has not changed in hundreds of years. But I think it needs more work to preserve its spirit, not modernization for tourism sake. More

Still under reconstruction. I will be a nice "historical" site once construction is complete. Even though we were on a sponsored tour, the guides did not have much information on dates and history. Two guides conflicted over certain dates when events took place. More

It's currently one big building site and difficult to see that even when it's finished it will be anything of interest. More

I went to find this place as it seemed an important part of Saudi history but found it was currently closed for restoration work. The sign posting is pretty variable but hopefully it will improve once they finish all the road works around there. More

This will be great when they have finished but at the moment there is not much to see and you can't wander about as you once could. More

I recently visited the old city and I have to say it looked quite impressive. The ruins are on the verge of collapsing and a restoration program is currently under way. A large percentage of the ruins are held up with scaffolding and a major construction project is on going. New homes. mosques, malls and businesses are being built all... More

The whole area looks very scenic with its excellent valley roads, parks where you can barbeque the food ( take all materilas with you) that is something different to the concrete jungle of Riyadh More
