Dirayah now is so part of Riyadh that even the taxis are ok to take you there, the old town has not changed in hundreds of years. But I think it needs more work to preserve its spirit, not modernization for tourism sake.

Still under reconstruction. I will be a nice "historical" site once construction is complete. Even though we were on a sponsored tour, the guides did not have much information on dates and history. Two guides conflicted over certain dates when events took place.

It's currently one big building site and difficult to see that even when it's finished it will be anything of interest.

if you want to see the old saudi living style, visit the Old Dir'aiyah and see the water wells and old mud houses.. if you didn't like it, it would be still an experience to talk about ;)

I went to find this place as it seemed an important part of Saudi history but found it was currently closed for restoration work. The sign posting is pretty variable but hopefully it will improve once they finish all the road works around there.

This will be great when they have finished but at the moment there is not much to see and you can't wander about as you once could.

The whole area looks very scenic with its excellent valley roads, parks where you can barbeque the food ( take all materilas with you) that is something different to the concrete jungle of Riyadh
