We had a fantastic time here. Not the easiest place to get to and not very commercialised which after visiting the other Nabatean city of Petra was great. Hardly anyone there which allowed a very relaxed day and close access.

We visited Madain Saleh last January, the ruins are in excellemnt condition and the whole surroundings - and having the huge site all to yourself - really gives you a feeling of being an explorer! The hotel in Al Ula can arrange everything for you from entry permit to guide. In fact a couple of months later we visited Petra... More

This site is also proclaimed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. I was working in Riyadh as expat, and we follow a group camping tour to Medinah by flight, then... More

I took a group in October. We paid R190 per head per night for accommodation; the MS Hotel asked for SR100 to sort out the permit (which can be done free if you contact the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities); we drove from Ha'il, and the cost of vehicles was SR900 for 12 people; we didn't get a guide as... I visited in 2006 and had booked fo go in 2007 for my parents. Back the cost to visit for 2 nights was very reasonable. It appears that since Mada'in Saleh became a heritage site the costs have increase by almost 3 times for the same trip. In addition i understand that the standard of the hotels has dropped. If...
