The most famous constructor in history – the King Herods let his people create this unbelievable mission in 7 years: to build this site on a flat ground and call it after his name – and now some 2030 years after – we still talk about it, send other to visit by posting on trip advisor (almost the" Herods of... Boy it was hot after the climb. Great to see the surviving ruins of a man with possible delusions of grandure. Quite a climb, but some in our party managed it with their sticks. Great views over Jordan from the top.

Not only is the park/site of great interest, but the drive to this area is interesting as well. We missed the turn off; drive about 15 km south of Jerusalem. Did not see sign for turn off so check direction before going. Need to go through check point since going from sector A to B. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herodium

The hilltop palace, the theater and tomb, the parade grounds, and the lower palace with its pool and nearby bath, represent a display of Herod's greatness as a builder. Should not be missed.

Too small. Expected much more after Masada and Jerusalem. Very nice view of this place (the hill) and from it, but the site itself is tiny and too crowded. Parking is difficult too. You will be done in one hour max, so don't reserve much time for it. If you have to chose - go to Masada. The same King,... More

A little climb, roughly 758 meters above sea level, to get a good view over Bethlehem and its surroundings. There is a bathhouse, remnants of the palace and more. You can get back via the 50m deep tunnel that is dug out. Nice when it's warm outside! Worth a visit. Entrance-fee applies.

This is not a review of Herodion itself, which we never got to see, but of the security at the site. We came to Herodion, parked in their lower parking lot (the upper one was full) and left the cars locked while we had lunch. Shortly after, we saw from a distance how our car was stolen BEFORE our eyes.... More

Absolutly loved my visit to here.it was a walk through history..you can walk down from the very top as there ae steps to go down and it takes about 25 minutes...find a small space at the top and then close your eyes and imagine this place when it was in its absolute glory..it was wonderful and I am thrilled that... Gorgeous-well done national site. Note- a group of elderly people had a hard time climbing through the tunnel. Know your limitations, the stairs are steep.

We went with a private guide we hired thru Bethlehem Bible College. For $100 he took us to several great locations in and around Bethlehem. Herodion was fascinating and a lot to see. Also a great view of entire valley. Nice breeze too.
