The Israeli security services and conservatives do their best to try to stop visitors from gaining access to the Muslim quarter and it can be hell on earth trying: sadness, squalor, repression but an important aspect to comprehension that only a first hand visit can fulfill. Lots of stalls and they are always trying to get you to come inside their shops and buy some soveneirs! Its a really interesting place though. More

As part of our walking tour in the old city we had lunch in the Muslim Quarter. A small cafe style restaurant in the arches of the old city walls. We ate simple but tasty food prepared locally. What a fantastifc experience. More
