Yad Vashem is a combination of a memorial and a museum, and the grounds are beautiful. The history of the holocaust is informative tracing its underpinnings to a radical change in antisemitism that originates in the late 19th century. One gets a very good sense of how pervasive the anti-Jewish feeling was and the complicity that almost all of Europe... More

There is a lot of information, so take a few hours to walk thru the museum. There are a lot of interesting objects. Hard to believe pictures, that make you wonder why humans can do something like this. It is very important to take a guide or ask for the earphones to listen to all the explanations. Be respectful about... More

Yad Vashem is a little way out of Jerusalem (a taxi ride away), but its worth the journey for a bit of respite from the crowded and vibrant old city, in a quiet place for contemplation. The memorial is a mix of museum and memorial grounds, and I think it gets the balance right. There is an indoor museum with... More

The area where the museum is, the architecture and the exhibit is really good. It is very easy to get to the place tacking the tram from Damascus gate if you are staying near the old city, It is free and you it would take at least 4 hrs to see most of it.

Every person who visits Israel must visit Yad Vashem. The experience is indescribable. The Shoah testimonials were especially moving, and left my husband in tears and me on the verge. My husband's father and grandparents escaped Nazi Germany during WWII, and most of the extended family perished at Hitler's hateful hand. I'll never forget.

The audio and visual displays are powerful, moving and very well done. The architects did an excellent job with the gardens and buildings to build a spiritual space. It is a must see for all adults. Allow enough time. There is much to see and hear.

Its a must go for everyone. Difficult to describe. Everyone needs to go. At least once. Don't rush thru the museum. Take your time. You may only go once.

I was at Yad Vashem 41 years ago, and again last week. It has been completely redone, and has many more outdoor memorials in addition to the moving museum inside. This is a painful place to spend time, but one that should not be missed. I found the "shoah testimonials" playing on monitors throughout the museum especially moving. The museum... More
