We travelled to lovely Selcuk from Istanbul. We stayed at the Nazar Hotel ( great value) review to come, and I got a lift to Ephesus with Lily a friend of the owners. My friend was unwell and could not visit so I went alone. After reading lots of opinions and advice I decided to travel late afternoon and I'm glad... More

I came here when I was young and really enjoyed myself and couldn't wait to show my partner. We went as part of the royal Caribbean cruise tour but i cannot remember the tour company's name. The weather was perfect warm but cloudy, as the site doesn't have much shade. The tour was a little rushed and we wished we... More

Yes, all the cruise ships bring buses full of tourists here, but you still need to brave the crowds to see this remarkable site. The Terrace Houses, under excavation funded by Austria, and housed under a large canopy, are particularly special. You'll see frescoes and mosaics for the grand homes inside (extra fee). The Celsus Library is, unavoidably, overrun with... More

We visited Ephesus on a day trip years ago, and decided to go back and do it on our own. It was well worth a second visit. It's an amazing place. To walk down the paved road and see the Celcius Library at the bottom is breathtaking! It's history come to life. So much of the site is still intact,... More

I have bad knees but was surprised at how easy Ephesus was to navigate. It was 92 degrees and crowded but it was well worth it. Advice to avoid the Cruise boats go after 3:00 PM

As this old city remains almost as it was in the old days, it is extremely impressive not only for archeology fans but also for all others. But, the crowds.... We were unlucky because the day we visited Ephesus, there were 2 big cruise ship that have arrived to Kusadasi and the site was jam packed... Under these circumstances, it... More

The entry point, route through the site, and exit well organised. Big crowds but gives authentic feel. Duration limited by bladder strength. Get a guide book to get all the interpretationyou need, and wander. Dont take Grand Tours - uninformative, and touting other businesses

If you are in the area of course you must go t Ephesus, and as other reviewers have said pay the extra for the terraced houses. It is all quite expensive but just bite the bullet. However, the Audio tour is not worth the 15tl. Usually I love audio tours as they inform while allowing you to take everything in... More

A must experiences although we were only in turkey for the day from a cruise I would love to see more of the country. What a fabulous place and so accessible although it is a little slippy on the well trodden stone paths so take good footwear. The toilets at the end had a long wait so asked the nice... More

Massive and well preserved amphitheater and library. Don't miss the terraced houses, even though y have to pay extra. Well worth it. Well preserved; stunning mosaic floors; original frescoes: also covered and a bit cooler! If you can, start at the end nearest the large amphitheater, as the mind boggling hordes from the cruise ship buses start at the other... More
