But the ruined castles, fortifications and ancient temples that surround it show how strategically important the area has been for millennia. The hills above the village give a beautiful view of the water and a welcome respite from city noise. « less

It is a lovely fisherman's village, very well preserved. Best way to enjoy it is buy fish-in-bread of the street, rather than setttling down at a restaurant and walk around. You can go up to the castle, though, that's not well preserved. Better stay away if you don't like cats. They are everywhere. More

Anadolu Kavagi is the northern tip of Bosphours, last stop on the Asian side and the intersection of Marmara Sea and Black Sea. Once a small fishing village is now a very popular tourist destination. You can walk in the narrow streets, climb up the peak to see the castle ruins and see the marvellous Bosphours strait and have a... More

Anadolu Kavagi is the northern tip of the Bosphorous , where Bosphorous meets the Black Sea . As a tourist, you must take the boat from the '' other end'' of the Bosphorous , all the way up to the Anadolu Kavagi, and watch the beauty of Istanbul from the sea . This place is actually a fishermen's village with nice authentic... More

I agree with the last reviewer. This is the last stop on the public ferry Bosphorus cruise where you sit for 2-3 hours before going back to Istanbul. I did not find it charming at all. You get off the boat and immediately are harassed by waiters trying to get you into their restaurant. We unfortunately made the mistake of... More

Like many travelers to Istanbul, we hopped on the ferry up the Bosphorus, which was a really enjoyable time. However, we made the mistake of getting off at Andolu Kavagi. What was described to us as a quaint fishing town was like a sideshow, overrun by hawkers throwing menus in our faces and begging us to come into their spots.... More

This is the final stop-off on the Bosphorus cruise & you have 2 hours to spend. We (regretably) chose not to walk up to the castle as we were hungry. The Yosun restaurant was very poor - in terms of service, quality & price. Touts harass you whilst anywhere near the main area and there is pretty much nothing to... More

A lovely fisherman town which will take you outside the city life. Take a table next to the boats and enjoy your grilled fish while watching the view and the boats dancing on the calm water... You can get here in different ways: (a) Get to Sariyer and take the boat to cross the Bosphorus, (b) Take the special Boshphorus... More

I went there last year on my first trip to Turkey after leaving in 1966. I had never even heard of it while living there, so what a treat to discover it this time! The little village where it is located is quite possibly one of the prettiest places I have seen. Anadolu Kavagi (kah va ya) is the last... More
