We stopped in Arugam bay as part of a round the island road-trip with plans for a three night stay. We left after one. Our choice was the Galaxy Hotel which did beach bum chic better than most, basically a big tree house with a large main room and stirs through a trap door to the bathroom. All good fun... more

We went to Arugam Bay on East Coast in July when told seas too rough on west coast due to monsoons. A real adventure getting there - last 10-12 miles to coast had road blocks about every mile, we hadn't realised how far down there the war troubles had spread, and this was only a few weeks after the peace... more

We were 1st time in Arugam bay and the place is very nice.Beautiful drive from colombo and many road work is going on.Still the town is very slow in the night and not many people around. Hotel Tri Start was a bad experiance and the food was so bad we couldnt even eat.Prices also high they charge 5000 half board... more

Just got back from A-bay having surfed at Pottuvil Pt, Arugam Bay and peanut farm.....was simply a good experience. Not many travelers this year which means that there are less surfers and more waves to catch.
