This is unsurprisingly a very one sided museum only showing the atrocities commited by the US, French and south Vietnamese forces in this epic conflict. It of course does not show any of the atrocities committed by the communist which is not surprising. However despite that it is still very interesting and at times informative. more

First of all: we are not Americans but Germans and yet I feel sorry for all Americans who visit this museum. It is VERY one sided. I shows horrible, tasteless pictures of victims of bombs and war crimes. Maybe interesting to some people but very horrible ( I dont think that any museum in Europe would show photos like these... more

The museum is mostly a collection of photographs, weapons and miscellaneous items which attempt to depict the "American" war. It is definitely from a North Vietnamese perspective..........but what else would one expect? Despite the "propaganda", one cannot deny the suffering that this war brought upon the Vietnamese people and this museum does not back away from depicting this suffering in... more

I have been to US war museums and was annoyed by the propaganda. This is probably a more honest version of the history - but is far too depressing for me. more

Visited on 15 December 2009--my first HCMC attraction. Its #1 Tripadvisor ranking influenced my decision. Of course the exhibits have been created from the Vietnamese's government perspective, so it is not objective. Understood that going into, but they do not even do a very good job of presenting their perspective. There does not appear to be any timeline or order... more

This is a very small museum and can be done in about 30-40minutes. While some life-sized model airplanes and "tiger cage" prison replicas will amuse and shock some tourists, this attraction is hardly worth its #1 ranking. There are other much more authentic and culturally rich attractions in Vietnam that doesn't focus on the atrocities of the Vietnam war. Worth... more

I visited the Museum in October 2009 as a travel guides recommended it as a “must see.” The photo displays were well-done, but were clearly selected to represent one point-of-view. I guess I really did not expect to see any reference to the Hanoi Hilton. It is worth a look, but do not expect any historical balance. more

Formerly called the "Museum of American War Crimes", this museum is still mostly dedicated to that end today. However, along with the changing name is a changing face of the museum. For example, there is an exhibit donated by mostly American companies such as UPS and United Airlines that honors the fallen journalists in the Vietnam war. This exhibit is... more

This museum is well woprth a look, with many Vietnam War historical remnants on view. Be aware that this place closes for lunch from 12:00 to 13:30 every day (how odd??). I was bemused by 'the rock' and 'the rake' that was used to capture a downed pilot of the 'puppet regime' at that time.....ah well, it is their take... more
