At Vimanmek there is so much more to see than the unique and atmospheric royal teak palace. For your good value entrance fee you may see several other on-site attractions including paintings and photographs by the present king of Thailand. You might also see his collection of pristine Volkswagen caravettes and a display room containing gifts that his majesty received... More

This was a very interesting mansion to walk through. We weren't in time to attend an English speaking tour, but it would have been nice if they offered a tour on a cassette that you could get when entering and hand back when finished.

This is very crowded with tourists and you have to leave your shoes and personal belongings (mobile phone, purse, camera etc etc.) in lockers supposedly under watch by CCTV and a guard (where was he???) some of the lockers you have to pay 20Baht for on top of your entry fee. Women are to be covered with a shirt and... More

We visited this impressive teak mansion and its surrounding complex several times over the years, but it's been a while and we thought we'd pop over again, combining the day out with a trip to the Dusit Zoo next door (see separate review). Entry is 100 THB for foreigners (approx $3.50), with another 150 THB if you want to visit... More

While the grounds are beautiful and the buildings impressive, the rather strange "no photography/no cellphones" culture at the Vimanmek Mansion makes it an odd place for the modern tourist. Once you enter, you'll be asked to divest yourself of your phone, camera, purse, backpack and other devices by placing them in a 20bhat coin op locker (30 for the super... More

This teak house is so beautiful. It's really a very nice palace and there is a very nice collection of furniture. But it's too crowded. When we were there it was jampacked with busloads of Chinese tourists. What a pitty! But it is worth the visit (after all).

Vimanmek Mansion was built to be the residence of a Thai king, and is the largest Golden Teak structure in the world. You get to walk through its corridors and glimpse into roped off rooms into the sumptuous decor that shows a fusion between Thai and European design. A strict dress code is enforced ... no shorts for men, and... More

The entrance ticket to Vimanmek Mansion is included and valid for 7 days, when you purchased the entrance ticket to the Grand Palace. This mansion is the world largest Golden Teakwood Mansion and is really worth the visit but there are very strict rules, such as No Shoes, No Bags, No Cameras & No Hand phones is allowed in the... Dont throw away your Grand Palace ticket...show your ticket and you go through free..and if you have thrown the ticket like us...well then pay 100baht more. Before entering the Mansion you have to rent a locker for 20baht to save your belongings, even your cell phone. Then you walk to another room where you take off your shoes and now you are... More

Nothing in particular is so special about the Mansion, but it is a good, cool place to kill an hour or two, especially since ticket to the Mansion is free with your paid ticket to the Thai Palace. The mansion is well maintained. No shoes, coin operated lockers are available for visitors to store their belongings, definitely no cameras, not... More
