The Museum has a huge collection of religious art, figures and woodwork however if this is not your cup of tea then it is best avoided. There are also poor, inadequate explanations for much of the art work that leave you guessing about the context or history of what you are seeing.

This museum has one of the finest collection of bronze statues and scroll paintings which in Nepali language are called Paubha and in Newari Thangkas. There is also a collection of old fire arms which include leather cannons. Apart from a mostly collection of Terra-cotta, the place also has good collection of the relics of the 1934 great earthquake.

There is a lot of artefacts to see, and we learnt a lot about buddihst art and history. So if you want a bit of culture then it's worth the trip, but it is just rooms and rooms of religious art so if that's not your thing then avoid this museum.
