The lake and dam are located on the other side of a mountain nestled between very steep hills. The approach to the mountaintop (on both sides) offers amazing views. As you descend to the Dam (after passing through the cute town of Songo), you can see the sparkling blue waters of the lake through the trees. Places to stop and take photographs are limited (and it's a little dangerous too) but totally worth the risk as the views are incredible. There is a tiny place at the bottom where you could load a boat into the lake and they sometimes do internal tours of the Dam, but the real treat is the views on either side of the mountain.

A man made lake on River Zambezi, a cool place full of crocodiles and hippos is yet to be known to the rest of the world. Stayed at Ugezi River Lodge with family for 2 days, went to the lake and saw Cahora Bassa dam close to 100m distance. Fascinating experience!!

Lake Cahora Bassa lies about 130 kms from Tete City . Its a place that is unspoilt by overtourism and is waiting to be explored . We first took time to eat a sumptuous lunch of fresh bream from the Lake. On the Lake the views were breathtaking . A must visit for tiger fisherman ......

I just was in the beginning of the lack, just close to the dam, but the dimension of the dam and of the lack in this place was really impressive.
Very wild and out of the normal turism, this place is must if you are in Tete province
