First time going to Tana and i was taken here to see the amazing view and know more about this history of the city. Our guide who we found just outside the palace was great and gave us a fantastic history lesson back into time. We had to pay him but it was a fair amount for the tour and... More

I fully underestimated the importance of visiting this derelict building until I returned to Tana after 3 weeks in Madagascar. The palace is on top of a hill with excellent views of the city and even though we suffered the end of their bad rains it was refreshing to be out of the turmoil of the city.We took time to select... Chose your weather wisely, when visiting the Rova. I had chosen the best day ever, hot, but the view was breath taking. No need to get a guide, just ignore them and continue on your own, maybe they will follow you and say some interessting things but you are not obliged to pay anything. the entrance-fee is reasonable when you... It's fine around here and interesting to see but three guides took us around without us asking and then asked for 40 euros each. Make sure you are firm with them, and only ask for one guide and agree a price before.

The site is on the highest point above Tana. Entry fee is 10,000 ariary, which is sort of high, given the local prices. if you take a pig, yuo cannto enter (no joke, there is a "no pigs" sign. I asked the guide - he knew of no one who attempted to enter with a pig - yet this is... More

Be careful!! U might end up with two guides. But the country is poor and everyone tries to turn a buck. At least not by robbing you. We didnt mind too much. But tourists are targeted and the hassle factor is high, smile n bear it.

Like a number of sites of potential traveller interest, this was inaccessible and had to be viewed through the front gates.

The best place of Antananarivo. From this upper part of the city you enjoy a scenic view and the oldest buildings can be viisited. Not far from it Jean Laborde's house is worth visiting

No sign of any active restoration actually being done to this once magnificent building that dominates the city skyline. Beautiful place tho to see the sunset over the the whole city

Guide happened to speak in reasonable English and somehow made what looked like a small establishment very interesting. As the title says, you can see all of Tana from up here and it is majestic. Got some fantastic shots. If you travel to Tana, in terms of attractions, this is a must see.
