nice view over the city. within the tower you find a neglected exposition of jujus and traditional living.
You can't miss it when you enter Banjul. The view from the top balconies is great. The arch is certainly impressive, although its design is a metter of taste I suppose. You also wonder whether the money spent on this mightn't have had a better purpose...
An impressive structure that you can walk up to experience a view across the whole of Banjul. There's not much apart from the view ,but it does put things into perspective.... a multi million pound self commissioned tribute to a president that shows his people living in squalor.
Well worth a visit and very close to the Laico Atlantic, would recommend climbing to the top as you get great views of Banjul, for those who don't want to climb the stairs there are lifts available, there is also an interesting museum. Entry is only £2 well worth it
We climbed the stairs of the Banjul arch,there is a lift, and found there is a museum type of display to look around and viewing platforms where you get a lovely view all around Banjul of the mosques,the sea and creeks over the rooftops and you see many of the modern buildings that the President has had built,standing alongsides the... One of the tourist "sights" of Banjul but not very striking. From the top, there is a good view of the town just about making the effort of climbing worthwhile.
