I went to 'Le Musée du Bardo' on several occasions. The first time, the entire museum was open to visitors. Unfortunately, it has been under renovation for a few months. But this was a needed process to enhance an absolutely stunning collection. The good news is that it reopened on May 25, 2012. It is located in the former Bey... More

I knew the Bardo was under renovation and was expecting half the place to be closed. On the day, judging by the floor maps, it was 80% to 90% closed. And half of what was open was occupied by workers shouting and apparently arguing with each other. But what was on display was magnificent and I hope to retun when... More

Visited as part of a day trip to Tunis. Thomas Cook didn't mention the Bardo was under renovation and half the exibits closed to the public. What mosiacs there are to see are wonders to behold especially if you've been to Dugga and El Jem were many came from. Will be well worth a visit when completed. More

Magnificent mosaics. Even with renovation works going on you cannot but admire the beauty of the work specially with the detailed explanations of the local guide Ms. Nasr who is actually an archeologist specialist of the Bardo. Stunning mosaics spanning several meters high by several wide of Roman and Byzantine eras with Phoenician influences. A stop not to be missed... More

Work on the new extension is still going on and it will be huge when finished, probably doubling its size. Several rooms in the old section are still closed or bare of exhibits. Entry was into the old Bey’s Palace with a huge mosaic on the wall of a chariot being pulled by leopards. The floors were covered with mosaics... More

Visited here as part of a day trip from our hotel in Hammamet. We were fortunate to have a very good guide Hassine who gave us masses of interesting information. These mosaics are stunning...the detail and sheer scale of them extraordinary. And my partner and I had a big bonus when one of the museum guides beckoned us through a... More

Nowhere in the whole world can one admire the beauty of mosaics, both Christian and pagan, that date over two thousand years! This museum is unique. It shows the precision of human hands at its best. The exhibits, whether profane or religious, are extremely well preserved and some of them are huge. It is another world heritage. Not to be... More

As they are putting the mosaics on the floor, onto the wall, they have closed half of the museum off. You therefore might not get your moneys worth. The toilets outside are not very nice, take your own toilet paper, there will be a lady begging for a tip. I didnt give her anything as they were unclean with no... More
