At ninety-two years old, with its immutable history, Edwardian style structure and current function it is the only medium size traditional proscenium theatre capable of flying scenery in the Augusta area, and for this reason it is a critical component of the infrastructure for area performing arts groups. It is the only performing arts theatre within a 150-mile radius that connects artists and audience members to historic social entertainment by providing a gracious and historic setting for all area citizens. « less

Wow what can I not say about this place. Being here for 60 yrs I grew up with the theatre. I watched movies as a kid and now shows. This a great place to see a show in Augusta if your a visitor.

This is a converted movie house into a stage production venue. Having come from Houston, Tx. I was somewhat disappointed in the theatre scene in Augusta. The seating is antique and in need of replacement. There is a snack, wine, limited bar concession area that is similar to an old timey movie house counter. I guess I am biased somewhat... More

Went to see the Nutcracker with my wife. The seating area is very uncomfortable as well as the steps are on an unsafe incline that makes it near impossible for children or the elderly.

The Imperial Theatre is a 95 year old building listed in the historical register. So, to say that the theatre is old, would be accurate. However, describing the theatre as outdated is not a fair assessment. True, there is some catching up we have to do to, but the Augusta community has been so generous with their support that soon... It has a super old time feel that just makes you feel good. Fun place with all seats great. The sound is really good ... the place just makes you feel a little more elegant.

It's just nice to go back in time and see a show in an old restored theatre. Beautiful stage and plush seating. Would not ever go to the second level again however... made me dizzy. Ground floor for me only.

They are raising funds to restore this old theater. It really has lovely "bones", and was liekly very lovely at some point in it's history. We attended a show on 2/23 with seats in the balcony. The heat (heat rises) was almost unbearable. The seats are old and quite hard, but moreso, are VERY narrow with metal dividers that cut... More

The Imperial is a well kept facility and historic treasure. They have a nice variety of shows and concerts. The theater is small and cozy. The upper balcony is a bit steep for older folks and there are some areas without handrails. All seats have a good view. You can always have a good time at the Imperial.

This is a great venue for small events. Reserve the side balcony seats if you have the opportunity. It definitely has a very nostalgic feel.

My husband and I attended the musical "Chicago" for our anniversary. I have been to Broadway and I was pleasantly surprised at how professional everything was here in Augusta. I will def be seeing more productions in the future!

Thank you so much for the review! We always pleased to hear about memories made here at the Imperial Theatre. Also, we will be sure to pass on your compliments to the Augusta Players, who work so hard to bring the excitement of Broadway to our historic stage. More
