pricey and off season. I looks like there main thing has become the zip lines. As a nature and photography buff I was very disappointed

As it was near the end of the day, the butterflies were not around when I went here. I walked around the garden enclosure and could see that the plants and fruit trees seem to have been planted for the butterflies. Also saw caterpillars in cages.

I was really excited about this and was not disappointed. There were many butterflies of different varieties as well a several new ones that I had never seen before. They have a building with the caterpillars and chrysalises so you can see the butterflies at different stages. Quite lovely!

This is worth every penny. Don't miss it. This is in Lake Atitlan and it is a very nice walk. I also recommend the zip lining or the extreme cables.

Lovely day trip from Panajachel.....staff are all very nice and although there could be more butterflies it's still very pretty..

not as good as the one in costa rica but still nice.... its just a stop before the zipline tour..

When I went, there were hundreds and hundreds of different butterflies flying around. It was magical. I've been told since that they are out and about in the morning. Good thing to know, otherwise, it can be pretty boring.

Presuming this is the butterfly house at the Reserva Natural Atitlan (could there really be more than one?), I highly recommend giving this one a pass. The reserve itself is nice - we had a nice walk through, looking at the flowers, trying to spot birds, seeing the monkeys and coatamundi and waterfalls, and walking over the cool suspension bridges....
