Don't be swayed by the bigger tour companies. Book with KAT. My husband and I never even heard of this company until Dorita at Midas recommended it to us. Initially, we were going to book with PACS but am glad we didn't. KAT has smaller group sizes so you have a more enjoyable and less time consuming tour. For example,... More

We found Elias through reviews on Trip Advisor and highly recommend him. He has dual citizenship so he makes crossing border into Guatemala very easy. He's very flexible--we were concerned we would not have enough time at Tikal and asked to leave at 6 AM instead of 7. He said "No problem!" We arrived at Tikal before the crowds and... More

Based on reviews I found here on tripadvisor, I booked two tours with Elias (Tikal and ATM). There was a group of seven of us ranging in age from 30-70. Elias was an unending wealth of information on both tours...with interesting stories (not just facts). Getting across the Guatemalan border was a piece of cake. He took our passports, got... More

We are very happy that we did our research prior to our trip and chose K'atun Ahaw as our tour guide. Elias provided excellent information by e-mail before our trip and even better information during our trip to Tikal. Being able to stay with the same guide for the entire day was fantastic. We learned a lot about the region... More

We used K'atun to go to Tikal and for the ATM tour and both were fabulous! Elias is amazing and I can't imagine anyone knowing more about Tikal. We had a group that was not afraid to ask questions and asked them during the entire trip to the ruins (which is long) but Elias pleasantly answered all of them. I... More

This was a great tour. Elias had an in-depth knowledge of Tikal and the Mayan culture and was able to explain the hieroglyph carved on the Stella. During the three-hour drive he gave us a great background lecture that really prepared us and made the drive pass quickly. The drive through the Guatemalan country side was worth it all on... More

Elias Cambranes was amazing. He has a double citizenship - Belize and Guatemalan and he lived in both countries for many years. He was first in Tikal in 1986 where he stayed for years and became a registered guide. His knowledge of both countries was amazing and we asked him dozens of questions which he all answered. He picked us... More

We spent three days with K'atun Ayaw: Tikal with Elias, ATM with Orlando, and Caracol with David. All three guides and adventures were fantastic, but I think it was ATM that was the most exciting. Venturing deep into the cave to the ancient Mayan remains was exhilarating, but not for the faint of heart or the claustrophobic. If you're doing... More

We went with Elias to Tikal and couldn't be happier with our choice of tour operator. This will be a short review only because I completely echo the preceding reviews. Elias provided interesting commentary with just the right amount of detail on a variety of topics. I learned so much today about Belize, Guatemala, Mayan culture and the jungle. Nice... More

Elias Cambranes took us to Tikal. He was fantastic. Excellent English, very knowledgeable on all subjects: history, animals, botany, socialogy, politics of yesterday and today. Nothing he could not answer. Elias made bordering crossing flawless. They obviously know and respect him on both sides of the border. One nice thing about Katun Ahaw is that Elias can take you all...
