At the San Ignacio resort hotel, the iguana reserve is a really fun place to go when you have a few hours onn your hands. You will see and touch many iguanas and the guide provided much interesting info.

This place is definitely worth a visit. They're doing some really great conservation work here...and the iguanas are too much fun! Definitely stop in to meet Gomez & take some pictures of your significant other with iguanas on his/her head :)
Great time with the iguanas - they let you hold them, and encourage the iguanas to climb all over you. Our 1.5 year old LOVED seeing them up close and personal (and most of all on Dad's head!) Learned a lot about iguanas too.
After visiting the Maya ruins at at Xunantunich then later at Cahal Pech above San Ignacio Town (western Belize, Central America) a great next stop is at the San Ignacio Hotel' Iguana Conservation Project. The hotel's fancy marble entrance should not side track your iguana interest since the Iguana breeding area is on the river side of the hotel's back...

Fantastic, Gomez is awesome! Our guide was very nice and helpful and the hotel is spectacular to see.
Eddy was our guide at the Iguana Conservatory. It costs $6 US per person to tour. Eddy was a lot of fun letting us hold Gomez (the biggest iguana) and telling us all about iguanas and the conservatory program. We also got to feed the iguanas Chaya leaves and bananas. Tours begin on the hour from 8am-4pm. Call ahead to...

This tour was out of the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. Eddy was incredibly knowledgable and allowed us to hold the iguanas (only if you want to). Very interesting tour.
We were the only two people on the tour...the guide was incredibly knowledgeable as he is the person who takes care of these amazing creatures. They are currently working to expand the enclosure. And eggs are currently being incubated. I highly recommend this tour!!
Huge thanks to Eddie for being such a great guide! He made the tour interesting & fun. We decided to give the tour a shot based on reviews & I was really happy we did. It was very informative & good entertainment. We walked up there from our hotel on Burns Ave. It wasn't all that far. I strongly recommend...

At a facility adjacent to San Ignacio Hotel, they are nurturing about 50 young iguanas. Visitors can learn about them and one of the big ones (named Gomez) enjoys being held. Very interesting.
