I can't even begin to explain this experience, it is definitely a must see if you are in Belize. I would honestly recommend someone travelling to Belize JUST to see the ATM cave. The experience is so hard to describe but it was just amazing! Quite often I forgot we were in a cave and felt like I was just... More

We did the ATM Cave tour with Elias Cambranes of K'Atun Ahau tours. I've sang his praises elsewhere so I'll just say he gets his groups in early so we were ahead of the crowds. He spent a lot of time to make sure we saw everything and learned the history behind it. We loved the tour...just want to say... More

if you decide on only 1 place to see in Belize, it really must be the ATM, much more strenuous than I was made to believe but amazing, you are required to swim inside the cave in 2-3 places, the entire trek is in water (between ankle to waist deep) until you get to the main chamber. It is pitch... More

Awesome adventure into an underground river which flows through a cave system. Some tips: Wear a quick-dry thin shirt (not cotton) and bathing suit. Wear sandals that stay on your feet (not beach thongs) with a good tread, and socks. This wasn't strenuous in an aerobic exercise way, nor did I feel claustrophic (I was worried about that but it... I had read all the other reviews and knew I had to go - what a great way to spend a day! The short hike which had 3 river crossings was just the start to a water-filled fun day. Swimming into the cave was great and then being able to be in the water thru-out the cave experience was fabulous.... More

ATM Cave is moderately difficult to visit but well worth the trouble. One can stand next to astonishly well preserved 1500 year old Mayan relics including sacrificial remains with only a marking tape on the ground to mark the pathway. You must swim and climb but that is part of the attraction. The guides, Carlos Ponti and his brother Eddy,... More

Our guide , Carlos, is one of the most sincere and meaningful professional individuals I've met in a very long time. His technical expertise and contact with the ATM cave and its amazing artifacts is spiritual and visceral, Carlos is a medium between the past and present. Travelling into the cave through clear "refreshing" water.....scrambling along solid incut holds, ......and... More
