We have been on similar dolphin watching and swimming tours before but this trip was absolutely different! The staff were absolutely amazing!!!! My eldest daughter (11 years old) is besotted with Orcas and dolphins and the staff all enlightened her and listened to her and made her feel like one of them. The skipper let both my kids sit up... On 5th March 2012 we went on a wildlife cruise of the Queen Charlotte Sound and had a splendid time. When booking we had explained our interest in bird watching and when we boarded we were given a folder of birds to look out for. Once into the Sound we were quickly amongst frolicking Bottle-Nosed Dolphins, then watched Gannets diving,... More

We had a half day with Dolphin watch and loved it. The children 4 and 2 years had a great time. We loved seeing the Hector dolphins and having them play with the boat. They came up so close to us and looked at us. They came back time and time again. The kids were fizzing. What an amazing experience.... More

I was waiting a year to do this, and it did not dissapoint. I didn't get to do a whole lot of swimming with dolphins, but they put on a great show while we were on the boat. And to get to say that I had the chance to swim with wild dolphins, in their environment is wonderful. The staff... More

We were scheduled to go on the dolphin cruise Saturday morning after travelling across the Cook Strait on the Interislander. The "weather bomb", however, had different things in mind. After being the last ferry over (the two after us were canceled), we spent the night in a Picton hotel waking up hourly from storm outside and knew the tour would... More

My boyfriend and I loved to swim with the dolhpins. I was a little bit nervous, but one of our tour guid, Paul Luxton, made me feel comfortable. You can hear when the guid tells something about the diffenrent types of dolphins, that they now a lot about them and that they feel a lot of love for them. They... More

My husband and I decided to swim with dolphins after a friend recommended to us, we went with Ecotours and found them to be very informative, enthusiastic, reassuring and it was refreshing to do a tour where the staff enjoyed it too and it wasn't a chore. We were lucky enough to swim with a pod of bottlenose dolphins and... More

We took the Dolphon Cruise in Queen Charlotte Sound that included time hiking around Ship Cove, where James Cook first sailed into the bay in 1770. The weather was perfect, the number of people on the boat was comfortable, the guides were knowledgeable and the sights were fabulous. Birds, seals, a few dolphins, and a wonderful climb and walk around... More

We selected the 'swimming with dolphins' trip which is the main reason why we couldn't give it a 5* rating. Before we set off, we were given 2 statistics: 98% chance of seeing dolphins and 80% chance of swimming with them. I have no arguments with the first figure: we quickly located a school of common dolphins (confusingly, a relatively... More

Thankyou for your feedback, like most operators we are always open to constructive ideas on how we can improve the experience for our guests:) I would however like to address a few points you have expressed your displeasure with. You mention it was confusing that you saw Common Dolphins?? As we point out during our brief, Common Dolphins are common... More
