Managed to do a trip to Riga old town. We stayed at Hotel Central Riga for 1 night. The hotel was excellent, warm and light. Nice breakfast and helpful staff, especially eileen. The old town is wonderful, pure and i mean it, as compared to other old towns I have been visited like gamla stan (stockholm), amsterdam, gothe markt (brussels)... More

My first visit to Riga came close on the heels of my first visit to nearby Tallinn, Estonia. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by the difference. Small and cosy, you can get anywhere of foot. Young musicians on the streetcorners and lots of cafes. Most of the old town houses are well renovated. Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely. A really beautiful and stunning city - amazed that so much survived the second world war. Spent two afternoons walking around, find odd little shops and buildings. Top tip - buy a good tour book and take a methodical approach to walking around. I was a bit random and probably missed some interesting stuff. Didn't get up the Church... More

You can easily walk around the Old Town in under a hour, there are a host of bars and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by, the quality of the food at every venue we stopped at was fantastic and very well priced. Sunday was much busier than the Saturday and seemed to be the family day out.... More

Riga's old city was really beautiful . Although it was a little chilly, there was a lot of people around, musicians etc. All the buildings were very well maintained and the area clean and safe to walk even late at night .
