I don't think this is being proud Latvian, it is simply on the TO DO list on anyone who is a visitor or lives here. Very good plays - opera and ballet. The building itself is worth seeing.

Went to watch the ballet, Anna Karenina by the Latvian National Ballet. I got the cheap seats so wasn't the best view and had to stand for some of the bits. But good value overall and a fun evening's entertainment.

The old theatre building is magnificent, acoustics was fine, it was a shame that voices did not match the graceful old style décor of the theatre.

If you get the chance, this is a must. We saw Barber of Seville, cost was £6 each and it was fantastic. Great building too, worth a visit in itself

Nice building, definitely worth visiting ! Impressive and very interesting interpretation of Wagner's Rheingold. --> A bit demanding to make visitors see the entire piece in one go, without break. --> only drawback: no bar or food area or at least not obvious enough.

I've visited Riga opera about 10 times during last couple of years. The building is very beautiful so it's worth visiting even if you are not such a big fan of opera. It's easy to buy tickets online and they are very reasonable price. I suggest to buy the program leaflet so it's easier to follow the story. The style... More

We booked to see the Latvian National Ballet at the National Opera house. We had some experience of attending a similar event having attended the ballet in Saint Petersburg last year however this time we had our 5 year old daughter with us. I have to say that this was a fantastic experience. We reserved our seats through our hotel... More

We saw the nutcracker here and what a amazing place it was! Get dressed up and enjoy a unbelievable sight! It has been kept well and still boasts it original features.
