Climbing up to this monument was a nice walk uphill. When I went there was still snow on the ground which made it feel more like a cemetery, but it's a really nice monument with a really nice view of Bratislava.

We walked up to Slavin from the Old Town a few days ago, walk only seemed to take about 20 minutes to get to the top (from Old Town)... excellent views of the Bratislava from the top, nice monument and surrounding gardens.....
We chose to visit this memorable area after walking to the Castle. The way through the residential area was fantastic. To see some very nice buildings and gardens while walking there. Unfortunately couldn't find a toilet or cafeteria ... but managed! Great great views over the whole Bratislava! Worth visiting!
Nice monument above the city. Good views, especially on a busy day. Recommend taking bus #203 (very cheap .70 for adults, half for kids) to the end of the line. Then it is only about 300-400 meters further. You pass by many of the consulate's homes, including the US Embassy which looks like a miniature version of the White House.
If you want to enjoy great panorama view on the city and you are fascinated by war history it is worth seeing. You can see this monument from almost every place in Bratislava as it is up on the hill. For those who want to avoid star climbing there is another option - to take a trolley bus from "Hodžovo...

Watching the sunrise over Bratislava on a chilly morning at the end of winter beneath a majestic monument brings some perspective to the traveller once you realise that 6,845 soldiers are buried within the cemetary that the war memorial honouring the Russian Army that liberated the city from the Germans overlooks. It's a fine war memorial but other than names...

On a clear and sunny day this was one of Bratislava's best points. Great views out over the city and of the castle and a moving tribute to the Russian soldiers. Only took about 15-20 mins to walk up from the town centre.
The climb can be though on the stairs, but it is well worh it. You can see the monument from far away, and it's a must visit when you visit Bratislava. You can really look far away and see all of bratislava, and even further. When we went in winter it was cold, but you certainly get warm by walking!...

It's a Russian monument on top of the hill above the city, not that impressive but the view is worth the trip
Slavin is a must see site to visit when in Bratislava. It is located on a high hill which provides a beautiful view of the city. This cemetery is a memorial to Soviet Army soldiers who fell during World War II liberating the city of Bratislava from Nazi German troops. I would recommend it to all history fans out there.
