This place was absolutely breathtaking! Unbelievable architecture and even better views. There are restaurants along here, with classical music playing. Even if you dont go in, worth listening to a piece...or two!

there is a 600 Florint ticket to go up on the ramparts, however there is nothng up there, except for the view (which is excellent, by the way). You get the same view from the last part of the Bastion, which is free for all.
After reading other people's reviews before visiting I had the impression that there was more to this area than there really is. After a bus ride up the hill we walked thru the quaint village area with shops and restaurants to the main attraction, the cathedral and viewpoint. The cathedral's roof was the most beautiful we saw along the Danube, and the views of Budapest were great. Small vendors are grossly overpriced, and some were warned by local police after some complaints....

Great viewpoint to see the Danube and across the river to Pest. Pose for pictures and breathe in the atmosphere of this great city.
The Bastion itself is very picturesque and the views it commands are stunning. The only downside is that it is generally heaving with people - so go early or late if you can.
The towers and walls were really nice to visit, also offering great views of Parliament and the rest of the Pest side. It was nice to take the Siklo up to the area and walk over, and visiting Matthias Church nearby was fun too. Definitely one of the best parts of the trip exploring that area.
The church is still under restoration (mainly in the old Muslim corner of the church) but has otherwise been beautifully restored, including a new roof. Well worth a visit.
It is also located in the most charming historic district of Buda. Wonderful area to walk around. We went there to see St Matthias Church--closed early and couldn't enter, but were delighted to see the neighborhood.
Try and go early in the morning because as soon as everyone is awake..... it's sooooo busy. Beautiful buildings and surroundings, though!
