Most of the old town occupies a small area on either side of the river. The cathedral is worth a visit as are other nearby structures such as the Dragon Bridge, the colonnaded market buildings and some of the narrow streets. There are cafes, bars, banks etc as well as some retail outlets at the edge. More

one of the most beautiful and perfectly preserved and restored city centres, in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe; pedestrianised cobbled streets between the river and the hill dominated by the castle make it romantic and cosy in the same time More

Typical of what most "old towns" are like, many outdoor restaurants, lots of tourist shops, lots of ice cream vendors, the castle on the hill, walk ways through old town on both sides of the meandering river. Many museums and some churches. More

The old town is a wonderful place to take a stroll. The buildings are very old and unique, and full of interesting things. The old town is also full of locals (especially younger generation), and full of bars, which are a bit on the expensive side, but it is worth it to get a true feeling of the old town.... More

I took a self-guided walking tour describing the various buildings, their history, and architecture through Old Town. There are some very colorful streets. Each building seems to be very old, unique, and have some sort of great story to it. A trip to Ljubljana is not complete without a tour through Old Town. More

Lots of interesting little shops, and even in winter, when the sun shines there are outdoor cafes everywhere. The architecture is heavily influenced by the Austrian empire, and also many buildings/structures designed by Joze Plecnik, Slovenia's most famous architect. The open market has lovely home grown flowers as well as commercial booths and seasonal fruits and vegetables. More
