We hiked both ends of the Routeburn Track as far as we could in one day. We weren't prepared for the overnights at the huts but what we saw was truly a spiritual experience!! We loved it so much that we plan to return to complete the whole of it. We did see the huts and they are outstanding, so... More

very exposed to bad weather, climbs high into the mountains. be prepared for any weather year round, weather changes rapidly and can be bad even in summer.. don't stray off the track, people have died doing this..... otherwise can be a great walk, just be prepared, bust book the huts in advance in the warmer months, big avalanche danger in... An easy hike - 32 km. Beautiful scenery - can be done in a day. If you stay overnight, sandflies can ruin camping

We did the guided hike with Ultimate Hikes. What a fabulous 3 days. Besides the incredible, gorgeous, New Zealand scenery, we had great weather (mostly!) and our guides and hiking companions were wonderful. Ultimate Hikes is the only company that has lodges on the trail and after a day of hiking we were able to stay in comfortable beds, have... More

We walked the route for one day at the start then drove around and did the link near the Great Divide up to Key Summit. The second choice is a real winner and a must on a clear day after an early Milford sound trip or to add on to your Routburn Hike.

I only had one day to expierence this wonderful place. I hiked from Glenorchy side first to Routeburn Flats hut which will take at least 2 hours. Then on to the Falls hut which is a bit more challeging go up steeper and more rugged trail which will take 1-1/2 hours. Then I turned back and returned to where I... More

Spent a few days walking the track and enjoying the views, we were lucky as the weather was graet the whole time with only a few hours of rain at the start of the walk. Ran into two guys running the track, they operate a business where they will pick up your car and drive it to the other end... More

Recently completed the track. 2 nights/ 3 days from the shelter to the divide. The walk was very achievable, the weather was perfect, no rain but there was still plenty of water around in the numerous waterfalls. The huts were more than basic including flushing toilets. The track is well maintained and well marked.

My boyfriend and I walked the track over two nights / three days from the Shelter to the Divide. The views from the Routeburn Falls hut were beautiful. It was easily the best hut to stay at along the track in terms of views and set out of bunks etc. The track is very well maintained and well marked out.... More
