I hope I can, I hope I can....I knew I could, I knew I could. What an exciting little diversion getting up Baldwin St and then back down. Loved it!
It was an interesting site but probably a little overated by the locals when you consider the surrounds, every street has a hill and most have a view. As for the road it is bloody steep and a hard walk but as previously stated there are hundreds of roads around Dunedin with a steep climb.
We were lazy and took a drive, although we were a little concerned we weren't meant to be driving up thanks to the stern eye we received from a runner. Did a U-turn in a driveway near the top because there were a lot of people up there and concerned we might run someone over. A must see really and...

Don't drive to the toop as it is private driveways and not for hundreds of tourists looking at a very steep hill. Felt like we were going to the moon on the way up. Gotta do it, but once is enough.
Everyone needs to go here at least once in their life. Walk all the way up or drive if your game. Good exercise and good view from the top
If you can - try driving up and down this street. Like an amusement thrill ride! I can't imagine walking or running up (or down) this steepest street.

A must. Reputed the world's steepest street. Even if you don't walk it, it's fun watching everone else.
My husband even joined me on the walk up. Wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. I took a jaffa and rolled it down - taking photos. Make sure you take a camera and the shop on the main road will sell you certificates and even laminate them for you.
