I enjoyed seeing some of the animals. However, having visited many larger zoos, this one wasn't so impressive. The kiwi bird was cool though.

Last time I went here in January 2012 I was quite saddened by the smallness and non-natural enclosures but this time it was great with the new Asia Precinct and Green Zoo. The Tiger and Sun Bear enclosures were amazing! I loved them and the new keeper talks with those animals were also great and educational. Like last time, I...

I have been to many others in different cities in different countries but this is the coolest little zoo I have been to. All my favourite animals are here - baboons, giraffes and meerkat. It was great to see a red panda and the rare Malayan sun bear, plus the usual animals in a zoo. They offer animals encounters which...

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by staff, invited to pet various critters, encouraged to participate in the Wild Theater & enrichment activities - my son (11yrs) absolutely loved being a part of the play, naming the 'newly discovered animal', and making popcorn pinecones to feed the spider monkeys.
The talks by keepers were also really informative and...

It's a great outing for the young ones who don't expect much. Its quite pricey, but i don't want to give up on it just yet. Hopefully more will visit and it will get reasonably priced.
Not the best zoo to take a stroller as it's a tad hilly. Always good to see the animals, but it doesn't have some of the more interesting big animals, such as elephants. We lived in Wellington for years and maybe because we'd been spoilt living in Singapore, which has a fantastic zoo, when we returned to Wellington, the zoo...

I took my four year old grandson to the zoo for some bonding. He enjoyed it but I thought that the displays were pretty disappointing with too little information about the animals. A lot of enclosures did not even have a label to tell us what kind of animal we were looking at, or anything about them. Many of the...

on our trip to wellington we allocated a whole day for the zoo. what a worth it experience! we started off sadly not seeing any penguins or otters so were expecting not very good things. then came the kiwi experience and tuatara. altho a little dark - which is understandable - i managed to spy a little kiwi! that made...

The zoo is small, but has wonderful highlights including the Red Panda, Tiger, and Sun Bear exhibits. All the exhibits seem quite updated and the animals seem pretty happy and healthy. Well done zoo that is a nice 2-3 hour tour.
The Welly Zoo is very friendly for the children, one of my best experience so far. The zoo has many points where we can sit and watch one or two animals for a longer time as we wish, then as you head on to the next animal attraction there are plenty of toilets you can use anywhere you need to....
