There's lots to see at the Auckland Museum and it is located in the beautiful domain - lovely on a nice day to stroll from the city through the domain to the Museum. From the grand building to the exquisite inside I was blown away by how wonderful the museum is. I highly recommend taking children as the children's section is interactive and well worth the visit. The maori wood carvings and history gave me goose bumps. I would recommend 2 days at the museum as so much to see

the whole atmoshere and one ness was not feeling rushed could amble at own pace and a very contented feeling

Excellent exhibits to visit that record the history of this nation. Love the tiny town that shows us how it once was. Lovely displays of china and pottery. See the Eygptian mummy.

The museum has gorgeous Maori wood carvings and great photos. They request a donation for entry and if you want to see a Maori cultural show it is another $20 per person. Met and taken around by the museum director, who showed us behind the scenes and told us of the impressive plans to open up the museum interior. Rather like Auckland itself, it will be great when it's finished.

The whole museum is first rate but the Maori Culture Performance is best of all. For far less than half what you pay elsewhere you see not only a marvelous performance by dancers who look to be classically trained .
