Took our niece and nephew here for a day out and had a really great day. Well worth it. The kids loved all the animals, especially the penguins. Liked the vending machines that were all around the zoo for drinks and snacks, very conveniate.

Perth Zoo is small by global standards, but there is a great array of both native Australian fauna and the expected global breeds. Elephant, lion, cheetah, rhino and terrific aviaries. The penguin display is great and terrific for young children.
Holidays were full of kids running around and as we dont have children we should of picked a better time but we still enjoyed our day and managed to see what we wanted too. Food is way overpriced there so pack a picnic and a water bottle. Tidy, well kept zoo!!
We went to the zoo not expecting too much in the way of animals but we were wrong. the zoo is very well set out with lots of animals to see,the nocturnal house was a knockout!!
i did go there along time ago, but when i went, everything was neat and tidy, the food was yummy, the prices for everything were reasonable and the best part was that when you went round to each animal they look happy and well feed / looked after. there is play grounds for kids also which is good for families
No one can resist the cute animals you always see in a zoo and Perth zoo is no different. A great way to get to the zoo is by ferry from Barrack Square jetty to South Perth and walk the short distance to the entry. A great day out for the family anytime.
Sons Birthday we decided to go to the Perth Zoo. Food and cake in hand we set out on our trip.
Considering it opens at 9 we got there at 8.30 and there was a very large line. It took us ages to get a parking near by as the carparks were full to capasity. Was really annoying.

I loved this zoo - the grounds are excellent with lots of lush vegetation. The animal enclosures are great with very natural environments. There are some really special displays such as the painted dogs of Africa and the tree kangaroos. The nocturnal house is large with many species on display.
Although it's been many years between visits and obviously the care and treatment of the animals has been greatly improved I found that the opportunities to view (particularly the orang-utans) was problematical. In saying that the gardens were very well tended
Six of us visited Perth Zoo in April 2013, Two Adults, Three Young Adults and a 12 year old.
I’ll start with the positives;
All the staff are incredibly friendly and informative, at almost every enclosure there was someone to talk to us about the animals and answer questions that we had.
If you can get there early enough then...
