I was not impressed to see a needle in the sand when taking the family to the beach at St Kilda. The council claim they clean the beach but obviously not thoroughly enough to get rid of every needle from the many drug users that frequent this beach at night. I'd also recommend people stay away from any beach along... More

I spent an afternoon at St Kilda Beach, the beach itself was a bit dirty and unappealing. I wouldn't go swimming there. The town center was really nice though!! Heaps of real nice cafes and bars .... go there!!

Been here numerous times, for the Sunday markets, to see the penguins, for a stroll and to soak up the rays, there's also plenty of bars/restaurants to feed your appetites, a must for any newbie to the area.

Used to be better before all the revoltingly drunk Irish booze hounds infiltrated the entire suburb with their constant vomiting and defecating.

Whilst the penguins are a lovely attraction at the St Kilda pier, they will not be able to be viewed until early September due to the construction of the marina. The only alternative available during this time to see penguins is to visit Phillip Island (2 hour drive from Melbourne)

I went to this beach with my partner and our daughter in November 2012... it was shocking. Dirty, scumbags, drugs anf drunks.. I wad advised by a local to go up to port melbourne beach as its safer for children, I wad advisef beach is combed each day by a tractor as litter and druggies leaving behind their dirty needles... Went down with friends where we walked along the foreshore. Whilst it was June it was a perfect day to take a leisurely stroll and then up to Ackland street for Lunch. Have been during summer and its very busy. Lots of different people to keep you entertained

Had a really good stay at St Kilda Beachhouse. For $21 a night i got a safe and secure room with lockers and a massive bathroom! Has a rooftop bar which does a really good backpacker night on a Friday. Reception staff are propbably some of the nicest girls i have ever come across on reception. Many thanks to Chantel... More

St Kilda Beach is one of the iconic locations for locals and visitors. It wraps around a bay, as boats bob, people swim and sun themselves. We were there on an April day, an un-seasonally long summer meaning people were swimming even then! The passing parade of people is fun to watch if you find a good posse, or join... More
