Lygon Street is Melbournes own little Italy. It abounds with restaurants and its great fun walking down the street talking with all the Restaurant staff who are trying to entice you in. You can always do a deal and its well worth a visit for a night out

Lygon Street is a great place to catch up with friends for a coffee or a meal or just a drink. Great food awesome place to watch people stroll by or drive down in their Lambo's etc.

Lygon Street's Little Italy"feel is unmistakeable. Plenty of great pasta places and great coffee houses. The street is a great place for lunch and an afternoon exploring the shops.

There are great restaurants and cafes. The shopping is very cosmopolitan. It is vibrant and has a welcoming atmosphere. A great time to visit is when they hold the festa

We often visit Lygon St for a movie and dinner. We love to walk along the street, popping into shops and cafes taking in the cosmopolitan atmosphere. There's always somewhere to eat, sit, drink and people watch

Looked forward to a stroll to Lygon St and was disappointed at the lack of coffee/cake/icecream establishments. I think Lygon St must shine at night time, but during the day it looked tired and same old! Wandered up there with 3 kids looking for a gelato and cake fix and ended up walking back to the city centre. Wrong place... More

Being Italian myself I love to return to a place where I can hear Italian being spoken in such a relaxed atmosphere. I love returning for Gelato with the children each year at summer time.

Lined with amazing restaurants, patisseries, ice cream parlours, and drinking places, how can you not check this place out when in Melbourne? just be careful at night as it can be a little threatening.

A lot of the restaurants are owned by lebonese not italians _ it is after all the italian area. Not once been impressed by the food. but its got some character - good for a date, especially after going to imax or the Melbourne museum.
