Getting here is not for the inexperienced, more then 1 vehicle should make this trip. Very little amount of people come to the top end of the Island, A good 4 x 4 with ground clearance is needed to climb over the coffee rocks along the way.

As a lighthouse enthusiast, it was wonderful to be able to fly over the lighthouse. you can hire a plane from the 75mile beach.
My Dad was one of 2 lighthouse keepers at Sandy Cape in the 1950's. He, my Mum and 3 sisters lived in the cottage beside the lighthouse. (Actually there were two, and an old abandoned cottage we nicknamed "Honeymoon Hotel").
Have many stories and experiences of our time on the island which will always be remembered as "home".

This is a very well preserved lighthouse station (still in operation but now un-manned).
Views from the top are excellent, and its worth the walk (1k uphill) to the lighthouse...
The 4WD trip past Indian Head and Orchid beach can be challenging and recommended to be with another 4WD vehicle for safety reasons.

This is the first time we have been able to make it to the tip of the island. A combination of the right tides and perfect driving conditions made it possible. Most spectacular views.
An easy 4X drive to get here. The lighthouse gives panoramic views of the ocean, beach, rainforest and the mainland. It can get a little bit windy.
