Our first impression wasn't very good: our 2-year old walked in with a packet of chippies. We were still by the front door, in a tiled lobby, well away from the exhibitions but this guard came over and said very rudely and patronisingly: "Is she with you? Well, she has to put those chippies away right now because there is... More

Can't believe they don't charge admission! This is a great was to spend a few hours learning more about Queensland. There is a mock-up of a Queenslander house, a display about the minerals found in the state, a large area of taxidermied specimens - not at all dull. There is a thoughtful display about wartime experiences in Gallipoli, Italy in... More

Not a huge place with lots of old stuff but well worth a visit. An insight into some parts of Australian history and some of its animals. Great section on aboriginal tribes and lots of hands on stuff for the kids. Easy to get to, make a day of it and visit south bank.

What a great museum. We go at least three times a year as it is always changing. Kids love it as it is very interactive. Great displays covering a huge field of topics.

For familiies, there is no place like the Queensland Museum to spend quality time with children. Such an informative space with so much to see and do. A holiday activity to repeat every year. The building is modern and well laid out with helpful staff on hand to answer queries or questions, to point you in the right direction and... More

A great museum, with plenty to occupy the whole family. Also has a picnic area with dinosaurs! The museum is mostly free, although we paid extra to go into Sciencentre - well worth it. Lots of helpful staff on hand, keen to explain things.

When we walked in the front door we were greeted by a staff member ready to direct us to what we wanted to go and see. There are lifts for those who can't do stairs, and plenty to see on each level. There's also a great gift shop and plenty of things to do.... especially in the school holidays!

Loved it. Love how there are different items on different levels. We mostly took our children to see the indigenous artifacts! Though they really loved the dinosaurs :)

Short walk from downtown. The main part of the museum is free to enter. Nice overview of Queensland history and animals. The museum is especially good for young children but adults will enjoy it too.
