I lived in the North Shore and on weekends, I take my family out to the Northers Beaches. One of the familiy's favourite destination is the Newport Beach. Lots of eateries available but out favorite is Newport Arms. One time during our visits a bikini fashion show was on over a weekend which was an unforgettable event. Great Food and... More

Newport Beach is a great beach, watch the shore dump though. The shops in Newport are fantastic, Harvest restaurant is brilliant for breakfast or lunch, yummo food. If you want good coffee Flamingos & Dingos in Robertson Road is a great 'hole in the wall' cafe or Zubi Bar on the main road. Zubi has great music in the garden... More

Fantastic beach. Not necessarily the best, but quiet and peaceful. We had to come here because we are from Newport Beach, California, USA.

Be your into surfing / body surfing etc or just need a beach Newport can offer something . The Surf riders appreciate the Peak at the North end and the Reff at the south end depending on the conditions. There are many takeaway places in the town just 5 mins away from the surf club . Council charge for parking... More

Newport beach was easy to park. Great waves although agree with comments that it can be tough if not a strong swimmer. Lifeguards didn't really seem to monitor as they do other beaches.

Newport is a great beach with decent parking but swimmers who aren't strong or don't have a lot of ocean experience really need to ensure they stay between the flags as it's quite an open beach and therefore can be a lot rougher than other, more protected beaches. Great shops right near the beach and a coles directly opposite make... More

Great beach with shops just across the road. Strong shories/dumpers so would strongly suggest swimming between the flags. Ocean pool is great for swimming laps.

This is the best beach in Sydney. Just pure heaven. The salt water pool is great and the restaurants and shops close by are fantastic. You can buy a chicken and salad or fish and chips and sit under the giant Norfolk pines and enjoy the view. The village of Newport is awesome. The beach is perfect, with great lifeguards... More

Unlike the highly commercialised beaches like Manly and Bondi, Newport manages to retain some natural beach character. There is still plenty of commercialism adjacent, but it is not especially intrusive, so that it is a good place for people who want a day at the beach but still want to feel that their proximity to shops, food etc is guaranteed....
