Great interactive displays. My favorite museum in Canberra because it has been left as it was when the new building was opened. Enjoyed sitting in the Prime Ministers office imaging what might have gone on.

Easy to become absorbed here, especially for older Australians who have lived with the land’s colourful political history for decades. You visit the working quarters of the old Parliament, its politicians and staff. There are very good presentations on past PMs and Opposition Leaders, and Democracy itself (though the French Revolution started 3 years earlier than 1792). And there are...

A great place to learn about the Australian political system and its history, in an meaningful and engaging way. Recommend going on one of the free tours run by the expert volunteers - so many interesting and entertaining stories that each trip is a different! Also check out the 'best of' the political cartoons from the previous year every January/February!
A truly fascinating look back into Australian political life in Canberra. See where the laws were made & the politicians slept in the senate & house of reps. Walk into the old prime ministers offices & see lots of history on display. The volunteer guides do a great job. A truly worthwhile experience. Well worth the $2 just to stand...

We had a tour guide and he was very good. Entry for Seniors was $1.00 each. Cafe wasn't to my liking. We learned a lot more about the Parliamentary system and sat in the various sections. i.e. Senate and House of Representatives. Again spent a few hours here.
good work; the speakers in the old offices and chambers give you the feeling of live history and ambience. This has been really well done; I also enjoyed the interactive screens and really feeling you do have a say...yay democracy!
A must-see for any Australian visiting Canberra. This was a great way to preserve such an important part of Australian history. Ongoing exhibitions of cartoons, photographs, documents always make return visits worthwhile. Absolutely essential as part of school visits to Canberra. For older people, the Museum is located in a part of Canberra it's nice just to walk around.
This gave a great history of Australian politics and would be interesting for locals and tourists alike. All exhibitions were well presented and easy to follow. One highlight was being able to walk through the Prime Ministers office as it was in the old parliament house.
This is housed within the Old Parliament House in Canberra and as a family it cost $5 for admission. Despite it being resisted at first by the kids it became very worthwhile and the explanations and questions it raised were very worthwhile. It is possible to see the old Prime Ministers suite and the Press gallery where reporters would do...

We spent an afternoon at Old Parliament House and we could easily go back for more. The tour we participated in was terrific - informative and very funny, the guide shared many personal experiences which added so much to the telling. A great afternoon, and fabulous local, produce available for purchase in the cafe.
