Best tip for this cave: buy your tickets in advance online! If you do, you can jump the que. If you don't: expect a wait of at least 1.5 hours. The cave is beautiful, but the guides speak mainly French. Not suited for small children or people with walking difficulties.

Fascinating Gouffre, with a mythical story as to how it was formed. The Devil and God were one day having a fight, and God threw the Devil into the ground, creating an enormous hole. The boat ride's a pleasure, but you do need to be fit and able, both for the descent to the Gouffre and after the boat ride, the... Booked a time slot in advance via the internet, but still had to wait around while a large coach party went through. A bit of waiting around for the boats, but nothing too onerous. The kids loved the underground boats, and the whole place is stunning. Our French is negligible, and the guide didn't speak English, so that detracted from... More

These caves are a must and definitely worth a little detour if you are in the area. The descent, boat ride, and then walk through the various chasms are all fantastic. Our guides had some English, which they were more than happy to use. We arrived after much rain, and it is worthwhile to bring your own raincoats, as otherwise... More

First you descend down a giant hole, then you get on a boat to cross the underground lake, in order to get to see yet more spectacular geological wonders on foot. Great experience for all the family. The walk underground involves quite a few steps up and down, so those with a mobility problem should beware. When I went I... More

This is a must visiting site. Out there, in the "middle of nowhere", you see a perfect round hole on hill's top. This by itself is amazing. You look inside and you see the depth of the cave....or should i say the depth of the upper level only. You go inside, and down and down you go, With every step... More

The most delightful cave experience I have ever had--absolutely delightful touring a cave on a Gondola through the river. Everything and everyone were perfect.

We went to visit the Gouffre de Padirac last August. We were travelling in a group of 2 families with young children (from 5 to 9 years old) and my elderly mother (who has some problems with stairs). The overall experience was fabulous and I would highly recommend this underground experience as it offered a wonderful combination of travelling from... More

Gouffre de Padirac was truly an amazing site. I have been to the Jade Cave in china which seems to be young in comparrison. I have read the other reviews and I think the time of year that you go makes a big difference. We went in late October and just walked in, no line ups and everything went very... More
