On the Cornish side of the Tamar approached by very narrow roads from Saltash in the south or Callington from the north. In my opinion the best way is to walk the two miles from Calstock rail station on the Gunnislake line from Plymouth along the river. The gardens are suberb in the spring and the house is fascinating particularly... More

This house was really good to walk around, you can do a self guided tour with the help of small information books and also there are very well informed staff to ask if required. The tapestry's though out the house are unusual and interesting, these are in most rooms. Also take a look at one of the oldest clocks in... More

Tucked away, Cotehele is a lovely historic house which really gives you a feel of living in those times (if you were wealthy enough!). We went for the Ranger led garden tour which was excellent and gave us an insight into the amount of work which goes into the upkeep and developement of gardens. Tea and cake to be recommended... went mainly to view the garland in the main hallway, which is always beautiful, but the house itself is not of a great deal of interest, in my opinion. the gardens have the potential to be very beautiful in the spring and summer, maybe i will visit again just for that purpose

Beautiful house, gardens and woodland walks. A wonderful commune with nature. Good children's trails for the house and you can wander freely. Walking down to the quay is a must!

From many visits around the country Cotehele is one of the best NT locations. It offers such a wide variation of things to do The manor itself is stunning, the gardens a delight but wander away from the centre and you'll discover The Quay with boats bobbing on the Tamar River. Wander on and discover the working mill (you can... More

This is one National Trust property that is really worth a visit. The house is really interesting with lots to see and you can basically enter every room. beautiful gardens and vista down towards the river Tamar. It is worth taking a short stroll down through the gardens to the river and walk to the quay for a bite to... More

We've visited Cotehele three times in the past twelve-months and have come away wanting to visit again. For those who haven't already visited it's nearer Calstock than Saltash and down some quite narrow lanes so take care, but once you've arrive it's well worth the effort. You can either park in the top carpark near the house or the bottom... More
