We took the first funicular to the mid-point and then hiked up the second section (a second funicular to the top would have been available though), which took about 1h45'. The views were just amazing and it was a spectacular experience.

The Niesen is an interesting mountain because it is shaped in the form of a pyramid. The Niesenbahn funicular was completed in 1910. Next to the funicular is the longest staircase in the world with 11 674 steps.
