A museum worth of visit if you would like to understand the rise (and fall) of Lüneburg while you do learn basicly everything you need to know about salt.
Worth a visit even if you don’t speak German, since many of the exhibits are fairly self-explanatory. The map showing the worldwide distribution of salt from Luneburg is especially interesting. Nor at the information nor in the museum you can find English descriptions of the objects, the thing you can get is a folder of material in english but it was too complicated to follow because of lots of information in general but not specific.
I was twice in the German Salt museum. You learn much about the history, try many things out and have fun. You can go alone or whith a guided tour. Especially for schoolclasses it is very good (even for little children)! Worth a visit!
