Take the little train from behid the Rathaus up to the castle. The rooms are reasonably interesting, and the views from oustide are stunning.

My highlight of this is to get to the castles. We decided to parked and then Hike up to the castle which was really great, surrounding by nature. When we get to the castle is was quite nice and we stop for an ice cream after our hike.

Being in Wernigerode you can hardly miss the castle. If you look from any open place to the south it presides over the town. Wernigerode Castle recides over the city. You are not able to miss it. You may take the Bimmelbahn (city-train) from main street, or best walk. It is a 15-20 min uphill walk at first trough narrow streets and further trough the park. The museum are very interesting. After the visit you may dine at one of the restaurants.

We visited here in February during a weekend in Wernigerode. The castle is a scenic 10 minute ride from the Altstadt. You can walk, take a horse wagon, a bus, or a tourist tram to the castle. The castle sits on a hill and dominates the view from the city below. You can even stay at apartments at the castle...
