Honestly, it was worth the 2 trains and massive diversions cross country across Germany to get to this! It is unlike anything else I have been on. “If you like steam railways it's a must.”

Everything about this railway is good, the engines are worked hard and the coaches are clean and warm. And to top it all the guard comes around selling bottles of schnapps. A very enjoyable trip.

Just loved everything. And it was sunny at Brocken! A brilliant steam trip, with plenty of loco photography opportunities along the way

Just a few trains are diesel - check the timetable to make sure you get a steam train. When we went up to Broken (the top!) there were lots of people getting on at intermediate stations so its best to get on at the starting terminus in Wernigerode. “Beautiful trip to the Brocken Mountain”

Loved the trip up and back - it was fascinating. The only downside was that the seats were very uncomfortable, but other than that - it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful countryside.

Lovely steam trains. However be prepared for the return journey to be busy and be on the platform early.

Great to watch the steam train get ready for the journey up to the Brocken mountain.The trip goes up the mountain through the forests with lovely views and arrives at the top of the Brocken in deep snow. Great to see the changing landscapes as you go. You can either stay at the top and catch a later train back... More
