My dad, Herman Ellis, was the photographer for Michigan's beautiful Mackinac Bridge, so we wanted to see this in his honor. It did NOT disappoint. We spent two nights in Millau so as to have a whole day - over, beside, and under this incredible structure. Don't just cross it: You should go to the high-tech visitor center at the... More

We extended our drive to the Dordogne just to see the bridge and boy was it worth it. It's just spectacular! There's a nice little visitor's center that tells you everything about the bridge.

NEITHER THE BEAUTY OF THE STRUCTURE NOR THE EXPERIENCE OF DRIVING IT WILL DISAPPOINT This architectural feat was so breathtaking, I am nearly at a loss for words but let me try a few: Majestic. Shimmering. Moving, in an emotional way. Airy. Sturdy. Amazing. Exquisite. Glorious. Amazing. Elegant. Sinewy. All these impressions (and more, but there is a point where... More

We had been wanting to visit the Millau Viaduc and we finally made it on a cold and windy Saturday evening. We drove South to North and enjoyed the surprise of rounding the corner to see the flashing pylons of the Viaduc for the first time. The viewing spot was an easy right hand turn soon after passing the ladt... More

Took some friends on a motorcycling tour of France and Spain, the Millau viaduct was on the wish list, stopped at the rest area on the north side of the viaduct (we were heading south) the services have toilets, a visitors centre showing the development and building of the bridge plus a guide to the region, a viewing platform for... We recently visited the Viaduct of Millau, a technological wonder that took EXACTLY 3 years to build (Dec 14, 2001, Dec 14, 2004). The viaduct - a sleek, steel and concrete 2.5 km arrow above the valley of Tarn river - is really impressive. The best way to experience the viaduct is from the specially created view point not far... More

Having driven over the bridge on previous trips, this time we decided to see it from below. It was well worth the detour- this has to be one of the most remarkable structures in Europe. Looking up at the incredibly slender piers is dizzying, but one of the oddest impressions is of the sound of the heavy traffic passing high... More

The Viaduct makes an impressive view and it's worth making a stop in the parking near the viaduct. You can climb out up to a nice plateau with a perfect view towards the viaduct and towards the valley below,

It's amazing to look at. It's so high and the setting is beautiful. There is a visitor centre with good facilities and a nice walk up where you get good panoramic views. Well worth visiting

For a first visit to this bridge, it is best, if possible, to arrive from the North. That way, you will get one heck of an impressive view as you approach it. A stop at the rest area is an absolute must; as is the walk up to the viewpoint (not for the infirm). This is a breathtakingly beautiful structure,... More
