This is my favorite site in the Manfredonia area. It's a very cool drive up to the top of the mountain to see this town and church. Extremely picturesque and charming! We had a fantastic lunch of traditional dishes, and had a wonderful day walking around the streets, the castle and the church. The church is very interesting with the... More

This place is magical; incredible, vast building with several museums and exhibits including a charming one on ex-voto paintings and a seperate one with treasures from the Gargano. The place has a holiness and spirituality to it that is hard to miss and the surrounding area is very interesting to just stroll around in.

Our pilgrimage stopped here to celebrate mass. The visit was very inspiring and it was most interesting to hear about St. Michael. The caves and artefacts are awe inspiring for someone from a country like South Africa where we do not have such shrines.

I highly recommend taking the trip up the switchback road to visit the Santuario di San Michele Arcangelo. It is a very unique church, having been built around a cave where the Arch Angel Michael has been seen four different times (a very impressive and unique claim to fame). Most of the frescoes are completely faded as you walk down... More

The Shrine of St. Michael is a religious place that is worth visiting! Enjoy the local food as well, lots of pasta and local cheeses! Don't forget to buy some local pasta and cheeses!

This is definitely not a place for the claustrophobic type since you'll always find a myriad pf people going up and down the stairs that lead you to the underground cave that houses that main altar where mass is held. It's a great experience seeing the faithful pray and it'd be a lot better if it weren't for all the... More

We recenlty returned from Italy and visited the Gargano area which is where my family are from. We stayed at the Regio Hotel which is outside of Manfredonia and one would need a vehicle to get around this area. The hotel was excellent but a bit outside of the city and accomodations were great including the food and service. One... More
