This should have been the trip of a lifetime as has been for others. Unfortunately, the herring have all but disappeared from the fjords and therefore the whales have too! There have been very few sightings this season and this is a very expensive and exhausting trip to see so little. The locals try everything they can to find them... More

If you like whales and want a good chance of seeing them, this is the place to come. If you're not keen on the whale watching, it's probably not such a good idea, as that's really the point of coming here. We visited Tysfjord in November 2005 for my 40th Birthday. We stayed at the Turistsenter and had booked a Big Boat Safari and a snorkelling safari.
