The museum is overall good, although not as rich in terms of number of exposed items and vehicles. I like the way it is organized and also the audio-guides. Check out the tank yard outside - you can see several US light and medium-weight armoured vehicles in good condition, including a 'Priest', M-26, a Russian T-34/85 and several more modern... More

Horrible reception and cafe staff but if you can avoid them then definitely visit the musuem. Entrance is not expensive compared to other Viennese museums and the tanks at the back are interesting. Internal cut-outs of U-boats and ships are also great considering Austria is landlocked (which it was not in its glorious heydays).

The building itself worth spending some time to walk around. Two galleries with about 100-200 cannons are free to visit. The main exposition is also very interesting with many guns, pistols and other weapons.

This military history museum gives has information from 18th century onwards. Entrance is 5 euros and includes an audio guide which is good value. The audio however does go into a lot of detail about things that are not that necessary so we skipped some of this otherwise we would have been there all day. It is interesting but it... More

Previous reviewers have mentioned the poor reception. I think the fellow was still groggy from sleep when we arrived first thing in the morning. That's okay with me since he miscalculated and undercharged us for 2 tickets, audioguides and the photo pass. I didn't notice it until after we left. My teenage son is studying WWI and WWII so I... This museum was absolutely worth the visit if you are interested in European war history. The Franz Ferdinand Death car and uniform is really interesting. The WWII exhibit has a wealth of artifacts and propaganda posters. The staff rolled their eyes at us when we shakily tried in our German to ask for tickets and prices. They said mean things... More

This place has some of the most interesting military and political memorabilia I've seen collected in one place. If you are a military, WWI/WWII, or European history buff, you will be enchanted. The only negative for us was that the "tank garden" was closed when we visited, but we could see the tanks outside through the windows. There were probably... More

First off, the guy selling tickets had the personality of a rock. And the WWI area was closed. Now that the bad is out of the way, the good. There's a great collection here, from the Napoleonic Wars through Double-ya double-ya two. They have an entire room dedicated to Radetzsky. Another has Turkish arms and armor. All good stuff. The... If you like military things, you will enjoy the vast array of ancient uniforms and weaponry. Entrance is also very reasonable around 5 Euros. Only 2 bus stops from the Vienna's Central Station, Bus 69A.

The building from the inside, is worth admiring by itself. The exhibition is not only about the Austrian military history, but also partial about Austrian history in general. Did you know Austria was naval power until about 150 years ago.
