Very ornate decor, we did the short tour which did not include the gardens. There are portraits of all of Empress Marie-Therese SIXTEEN children, most of who were married off to expand the Hapsburg empire. The Schonbrunn really is a demonstration of the power held by the Hapsburg dynasty for many generations.

The palace tour is quite nice. We used audio phones to guide us through and booked the Grand Tour, which allows you to visit a few more rooms than the less expensive Imperial Tour (not worth the extra money if you are on a tight budget). Because of the history, wrapped around the figures of Maria Theresia and Sissy, it...

Visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I had an English audio guide which I enjoyed and allowed me to walk through at my own speed. (I had a Sisi ticket so I was on the Grand tour). The rooms are incredibly well preserved and well signposted.
We had a short walk through the Gardens (the free access area) and they...

We just finished at the palace and it was beautiful. We allowed for a whole day at the palace and truly enjoyed it. We didn't feel rushed and felt like we saw a lot. We didn't the classic pass (the one without the pastry chef showing you how the strudel is made). I would suggest this one if you are...

You will get a free audio guide that talks you through about 22 rooms, plenty if you are feeling castled and palaced-out in your trip. You can walk the lovely and vast garden for free, and walk up to the...

Good area to see how the Hapsburgs lived during their time. There were several tours offered but we opted for the basic. It was a good tour, Palace was extremely huge and tiring to walk to, specially the Gardens at the back partly because of the pebbles. Wish they could make a walkalator somehow from the gate to the Palace...

Didn't go inside the palace, but enjoyed the grounds and the view from the top of the hill.

The rooms on display were filled with authentic pieces and gave you a better insight to the uses of the hunting lodge as a close by retreat for the royal family. External architecture more sedate and more attractive than over-the-top gilding of Versaille. Gardens not as sumptuous, but still lovely!
