Having always had a yearning to see this attraction I had the opportunity on a recent Scenic Cruise. Wonderful experience - the young lady who welcomed us gave a very thorough assessment of the riding school and its history, and was able to answer many complex questions. Saw 3 groups of horses doing their exercise routines, we were given lots... More

The morning exercise is boring unless you are really interested in horses. The horses don't really do much, and about 30 percent is a cool down period where they just walk around the arena. In contrast, the tour is great. They take you into the stables, so you are very close to the horses. You also see the tack room... More

I found the training session at the Spanish riding school very boring. Literally the 6 or so riders just walked the horses around ie the were on the horses. There was no sequence or coordination going on nor was there any fast movements or anything exciting for non-equestrian technical people. I was very disappointed with it and met many tourists... the reviews re: the spanish riding school are right on track. Before you go know the difference between tickets for the morning exercises and tickets for a performance. Exercises are daily - - performances are not. If taking children to a daily exercise dont need to arrive early and stand in line - your children will just get walked over... More

I was extremely disappointed with the performance. The horses are beautiful but when the first event was "walk, trot, canter" (like that is a big deal) and the second event was driving a single horse on the ground (like that is a big deal), I was wondering where are the dancing horses? Finally in the last act, the horses came... More

Spent a couple of days in Vienna but unfortunately could not attend an actual performance due to other plans and timing, so settled for morning exercise, which was exactly that, quite what some reviewers here seem to expect I don't know. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses trotting around and practicing the fancy footwork and I even got to see one... More

Hidden away within the inner city near the Hoffburg this gem of an attraction has tours of the stables and the opportunity of watching the riders exercise and practice their horses. A lovely way to spend a few ours.

If you expect too much you will be disappointed. 1. Badly organised, one is treated at the entrance like a heard of cattle, no organised queue, no information, just a pushing from all sides. We bought the tickets the day before and were told to use the back entrance, as it would be more quite and conveniant. Finally got two... More

We opted for the cheapest tickets which meant we were standing, however, still managed to have a reasonable view. The Winter Riding School building is a spectacle in itself - a lovely Viennese building. The horses are beautiful and go through their paces accompanied to appropriate pieces of classical music (some Viennese music of course). We felt that, whilst the... More

We went to the morning practice because we had no time for the evening performance. Now when you see the first 30 min, you have seen it all. Every 30 min new horses are being trained. Everyone does the same thing. But look around, the baroque winter riding school is beautiful.
