Nice park near the castle. We went there to see the trick fountains. The idea and execution are perfect, especially considering that it was created in 17th century. But I was a bit disapointed as imagined the walk through the fountains to be full of unexpected... but the guide always warned the group when and where to expect water, so... More

the gardens themselves were just starting to come to life....the tulips were in bloom and on a Saturday visit there were plenty of brides and grooms present taking pictures.

We used a Salzburg Card to travel on the local bus to the zoo. Explored there and walked through the grounds to the castle. The grounds are well landscaped and still attractive in september. The tour of the house is self-guided using a multi-lingual audio device set by the staff on entry. This provides an interesting and informative commentary as... More

It is an absolutely average sight. You can run through it quickly. The trick fountains and the surrounding parks are more interesting.

The palace itself is small inside but the gardens are beautiful. In the grounds you will see the gazebo from The Sound of Music (16 going on 17). The trick fountains are great- with a guide taking you round explaining them. Beware, you may get a little wet! Easy to reach by bus no 25 from the city and entrance... More

Stopped there on way back to Salzburg from going to the Eagle's Nest. Not crowded and nice to walk around. The yellow architecture is quite photogenic. Highlight for most is the glass gazebo used in the Sound of Music. However, it was not filmed there - when the production company left they donated that gazebo from their set and that's... More

The gardens here are wonderful and the fountains are fun and the layout very good. This is a lovely Castle to visit and well worth a few hours. It's probably at its best in summer, we have just come at the beginning of a late arrival spring and the trees and flowers were just coming out, but I imagine when... More

The Grounds were awesome. We spent most of the time at the park with the kids b/c there was a great playground and it was the first day of sun on our trip. Our kids are 5,3,1 and there was something for everyone. It had swings, slides, climbing structures, and even a zip line. We started and ended out day... More
